Pirha joins Tampere and Pirkanmaa EU Office
In October, the Pirkanmaa Wellbeing Services County (Pirha) confirmed its status as a funding partner for the Tampere and Pirkanmaa EU Office. This new collaboration with the EU Office opens up opportunities for the wellbeing services county to influence decision-making at the EU level and supports the region’s strategic development goals in social and healthcare services.
Although social and healthcare matters are primarily under national jurisdiction, EU directives and policies have a significant impact on the sector and its operators. The Tampere and Pirkanmaa EU Office will provide Pirha with support in research and development activities, utilizing EU funding instruments, and networking at the EU level.
Representatives from the wellbeing services county have noted that collaboration with the EU Office will help Pirkanmaa strengthen its presence at the EU level and fully leverage the opportunities provided by the EU and its stakeholders.
The social and healthcare sector is also expected to feature in the work program of the new European Commission. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has highlighted priorities such as completing the European Health Union, strengthening cybersecurity in healthcare services, and developing preventive services, particularly in the area of mental health. The EU’s political guidelines and support mechanisms offer concrete regional opportunities for promoting wellbeing.
Through this collaboration, the Pirkanmaa Wellbeing Services County will participate more closely in international networks and enhance its operational model with the EU Office, further supporting the region’s goals of improving the quality of social and healthcare services.
