Joni Rauhansalo Appointed as EU Office Specialist

The Brussels EU Office of the Tampere Region will strengthen in January as Joni Rauhansalo, Master of Administrative Sciences, begins his role as an EU Specialist. Rauhansalo’s primary focus will be on EU funding programs and the communication tasks of the Brussels office.

According to Rauhansalo, Tampere and the Pirkanmaa region have significant potential across several sectors.

– The existing expertise in Tampere and the Pirkanmaa region aligns with the European Commission’s priorities, creating excellent conditions for channeling funding to the area.

The appointment strengthens the EU Office as an active cooperation partner in key networks for Tampere and the Pirkanmaa region. Additionally, the EU Office will be able to serve its stakeholders even more effectively, with Office Director Harri Airaksinen gaining a new colleague.

Having previously worked in Brussels as a higher education trainee, Rauhansalo looks forward to the opportunity to promote the interests of Tampere and the Pirkanmaa region in Europe.
